This Honey-Sesame Dressing is sweet and tangy, perfect on salads or fresh fruit. And only take 5 minutes to make!
Chocolate ganache, melted caramel, pure maple syrup, a balsamic reduction… who needs the ice cream. Just pass me a spoon. Right?
This Honey-Sesame Dressing is no different – it’s sweet and tangy and delicious all on its own.
But, who drinks salad dressing? Ok, don’t answer that…
Homemade dressings and sauces are just THE BEST. Next to baked goods, they’re one of my favorite things to make. Store bought, with all the added preservatives and weird after taste, just don’t compare!
This Honey-Sesame Dressing, in particular, is one of my favorites. The kids request it frequently, so I always have a jar of it in the fridge.
uses for honey-sesame dressing
- A key component to my (Copycat) Applebee’s Asian Chicken Salad
- With this summer Honey Chicken Salad
- Drizzled over fresh fruit
- Mixed into coleslaw
- Great with pan-seared salmon
- A dip for french fries or tater tots!
This keeps well in a tightly fitted lid in the refrigerator for up to a week, if you can make it last that long!

Cam you use any other vinegar?
The closest substitute would be white wine vinegar or maybe apple cider vinegar. But for optimal results, rice wine vinegar should be used.
is there anything else you can use instead of mayonnaise, I’m allergic
Some people will say Greek yogurt, but for optimal results and taste the way it was intended, there really isn’t a good substitute, sorry!
This looks so good! I can’t have honey though- think I can sub maple syrup?
I wouldn’t recommend it, unless you absolutely love the combination of maple and sesame. Maybe try agave nectar, which I know a lot of people allergic to honey use. But I’ve never tried it, so I can’t vouch for the results. Good luck!
I made this yummy dressing tonight to put on my giant kale, watercress, marcona almond, apple, orange cranberry salad. Oh yeah, I licked the bowl. It’s a keeper, but you already knew that. ;-)
Yes, absolutely! So glad you loved it…your salad sound delicious!
Holy crap! I made this for dinner tonight and man it was GOOD! I had to stop myself from licking the plate clean lol…I only made a half batch to give it a try, I only had a small amount of honey in the house. Next week I’m buying a big container and making it again….and again……and again lol Thanks for such a great recipe!
So glad you loved it! It’s one of my favorites, for sure!
This sounds amazing. Thanks.
Oh my goodness, I always loved that dressing from that Applebee’s salad. I can totally taste this in my head!! I don’t know why, but I don’t make a lot of Asian dressings and salads…you’ve got me craving one now!
This looks like a winner and will definitely make this soon.
Well, to be fair, I might drink THIS PARTICULAR salad dressing. I’m such a sucker for all sesame infused dressings. Just can’t help it.
I love salad dressings that are so good you can drink them! Not that I WOULD… {ahem}
Can’t wait to try this one!
Sounds DELICIOUS! I much prefer homemade salad dressing! And this does sound like it would be equally delicious on fruit.
OMG, I cannot WAIT to make this!! I am always looking for the perfect Asian-y dressing for salads and marinades and such and none of them ever seem quite right. But this? This looks like pure gold.
Wait — it’s NOT normal to drink salad dressing??
This looks fabulous!!
Oh mah- goodness! I could totally drink this! ;) Looks fantastic!
