Cobb Salad Dip

Fans of classic Cobb salad are going to love this Cobb salad dip recipe made with many of the same ingredients! With a ranch-infused cream cheese and sour cream base, and toppings like salty bacon, hard boiled egg, creamy avocado, and crisp lettuce, it’s so good! This veggie-forward dip is also a great option to balance out all the heavier cheesy dips at gatherings.

I’ve always loved Cobb salad and thought a party dip with many of the same ingredients would be delicious – and it is! Unlike my favorite warm cheesy, creamy dips (I’m lookin’ at you Rotel and sausage cheese dip and spinach artichoke dip), sometimes it’s nice to have a light, veggie-packed dip added to the appetizer spread. This Cobb salad dip along with my 7 layer dip is the perfect way to do that. Make sure to serve it with some sturdy chips to get all of the flavors in one bite!

Tips & Variations

  • Ranch seasoning. Ranch is drizzled over my classic Cobb salad so in this dip, I mixed it into the cream cheese mixture. I love using my homemade ranch seasoning for this.
  • Hard boiled eggs. Be sure to make these ahead of time so they have time to cool. And don’t forget to check out my secrets for perfect hardboiled eggs.
  • Customize the toppings. I kept the toppings for this Cobb salad dip as close to the ingredients used in a classic Cobb salad as I could. But it’s super versatile and easy to customize. Ham could be used instead of bacon or even grilled chicken breast diced into very small pieces.
  • Dice everything very small. All of the toppings should be diced into very small pieces. That way a little bit of everything can find its way onto each chip dipped in! Larger pieces make it hard to get all of the flavors in one bite.
  • Use a clear dish. I like to assemble this in a clear baking dish so that the layers can easily be seen from the outside. It’s not a requirement, of course, and it tastes amazing either way. I just think it makes the presentation a bit nicer.

This Cobb Salad Dip takes the ingredients used to make a classic Cobb salad and turns them into a wonderful fresh, light dip. Quick and easy to prepare, it's perfect for any party or gathering!

Ingredients

  • 8 ounce brick cream cheese, , softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons Ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 cup finely chopped Romaine lettuce
  • 1 Roma tomato, , diced
  • 1/2 cup freshly shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 cup corn kernels
  • 2 hard boiled eggs, , chopped
  • 1 avocado diced
  • 5 slices crispy cooked and crumbled bacon
  • 1/4 cup blue cheese crumbles, (or feta)
  • 1 scallion, , diced
  • tortilla scoops, , crackers, or crostini, for serving

Instructions

  • In a medium mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Blend in the sour cream, and Ranch seasoning until incorporated.
  • Spread the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate or baking dish in an even layer (preferably clear, so you can see the layers.)
  • Top with layers of the lettuce, tomato, cheese, corn, bacon, hard boiled eggs, avocado, blue cheese, and scallions.
  • Serve chilled with tortilla chips, crackers or pretzel flats

Notes

Cut very small bite-sized pieces. When dicing the tomatoes, bacon, and other toppings, take care to make sure all of the toppings are very small so they are easier to scoop up and get all of the flavors in one bite.

What To Serve With Cobb Salad Dip

I typically serve this Cobb salad dip with tortilla scoops, pretzel flats, and/or crackers. Crostini is another great option. Since there are so many toppings, it’s important to pick dippers that are sturdy and won’t break easily.

This dip makes a great party appetizer. It’s good for game day but all of the veggies make it a great spring and summer gathering option too. (Just don’t leave it on a table in the sun, of course!) It’s a nice alternative to some of the richer, cheesier dips and it looks so pretty too.

How To Store Leftovers

  • Leftovers. I recommend serving Cobb salad dip right away or at least within a few hours, as some of the toppings (like the avocado) may begin to brown and the lettuce will lose its crunch. However, if you do have leftovers, it can be stored, covered, in the fridge for 2 days.
  • Prep. If I need to make this ahead of time, I’ll often prep the base of the dip and dice the veggies (except the avocado) but wait to layer them right before serving.
