If you’re looking for a super simple dipping sauce with tons of flavor to elevate all your favorite Mexican dishes, look no further than this avocado lime sauce. It’s made with fresh ingredients including avocado, cilantro, garlic, and lime juice, with mayonnaise as the creamy base.
I absolutely love how easy it is to make, too. Just a couple minutes of prep and then dump everything in a blender until smooth. Bonus, this avocado lime sauce is super versatile, thick enough to use for a dip, but thin enough to drizzle over veggies or baked chicken, or as a salad dressing.
Helpful Tips & Variations
- Buy ripe avocados. The star ingredient. They should be ripe but not mushy, and without blemishes or brown spots.
- Swap the mayo. Mayonnaise creates the creamy base for this sauce and my preference, but sour cream or even plain greek yogurt can be used instead, if preferred, keeping in mind it will lend a much tangier taste.
- Hate cilantro? Fresh cilantro is the perfect herb for this recipe since it pairs so well with avocado, garlic, and lime juice, but if you’re someone who hates it, you can definitely use parsley instead.
- Get the right consistency. This recipe is a cross between a sauce and dip, thin enough to pour but thick enough for dipping. Start with a small amount of water then adjust with more after blending, if needed.

Serving Suggestions
Avocado lime sauce is such a versatile condiment to liven up all your favorite Mexican-inspired dishes, so feel free to use as desired. We especially love it with air fryer chicken tacos and baked chicken taquitos for dipping. It also adds just the right pop of flavor drizzled over chicken and peppers or baked chicken breast.
How To Store Leftovers
You can make the dipping sauce up to 2-3 days before using, but since it contains avocado, store it in an airtight container with plastic wrap touching the surface to prevent browning. I often keep it in a squeeze bottle. I do not recommend freezing it.
