This homemade slushie recipe is great for kids and adults! Made with berries and yogurt they’re healthy, and super fun with layered Red, White, and Blue colors for Memorial Day or 4th of July. Delicious served for breakfast, brunch, or even dessert!
I couldn’t resist making some Red, White, and Blue Slushies for Memorial Day and 4th of July. Even though the blue is borderline purple, but who cares! Details, details! They came out awesome.
Being crafty is not my strength, but I sort of channeled it for these. They may look complicated, but they aren’t at all. Prep them in the morning and have them ready for an afternoon BBQ!
Ingredients you need for this Slushie Recipe
You only need 5 ingredients!
- Blueberries
- Raspberries
- Granulated sugar
- Whole milk
- Vanilla Greek yogurt
Is this a Slushie or Smoothie?
These are sort of a cross between the two! A smoothie has the consistency of a milkshake and is typically thicker than a slushy drink. A smoothie is usually blended with yogurt or milk, fruits, and juices. A slushy is more ice-based, consisting of frozen fruit juice.
Recipe Notes
- Fresh or frozen (thawed) fruit can be used.
- Honey or agave nectar can replace the granulated sugar.
- Plain Greek yogurt can be swapped for the vanilla yogurt.
- I used 4, half pint (8-ounce) glass jars for this recipe.
- These can be made up to 2 days ahead of time. Keep frozen (covered, without garnishes) and thaw slightly before serving.

This is so great! Love all the layers. If only we could all be like Martha…
Oh yummy! Those look terrific!
You are my kind of Martha Stewart! I almost wouldn’t want to drink these because I wouldn’t want the layers to get mixed up. But maybe a swirl would be kind of cute too…
