One thing that really helps is to make dessert that doesn’t require any cooking, so you just have to worry about the prime rib and green beans being done at the same time.

My favorite is the Christmas tree lights chocolate bark because I like white chocolate, but not everyone does on my list. For them, I will probably make something with semisweet or dark chocolate.
