What’s In A Chocolate Martini?

Chocolate martini ingredients is simply equal parts of vodka, chocolate liqueur, Kahlua, and Irish cream, plus chocolate syrup for coating the glass.
(Scroll below to the printable recipe card for details and measurements.)

  • Vodka. The base alcohol of this cocktail. See recommendations below.
  • Chocolate liqueur. We love Godivaโ€™s dark chocolate liqueur in this recipe, but use whatever brand you like.
  • Kahlua. This is a coffee-flavored, rum-based liqueur which helps enhance the chocolate flavor.
  • Irish Cream. There are other brands out there, but Baileys is our go-to.
  • Chocolate syrup. This coats the bottom of the martini glass for that extra chocolate flavor.
  • Ice. The dessert drink is best served chilled.

  3. Enjoy. Strain into the glass. Garnish with chocolate shavings and enjoy.

Tips for Success

Here are a couple things to keep in mind when making a chocolate martini.

  • Use quality vodka. Vodka is a key ingredient in this recipe and if you reach for the cheap stuff, you’ll be able to taste it. Tito’s and Kettle One are good but affordable brands.
  • Chill everything. Martinis are meant to be served cold. Chill the vodka beforehand if you can and if not, make sure to shake, shake, shake until everything is well chilled.
