Easy Air Fryer Stuffed Mushrooms
These air fryer stuffed mushrooms are an absolutely wonderful appetizer – they work for nearly every occasion and they’re ready in just over 20 minutes!
We love crab stuffed mushrooms but there are occasions where you may not need that crab filling. Enter these cream cheese stuffed mushrooms. They have the classic cream cheese filling, with some breadcrumbs for texture, a few seasonings, and, of course, lots of parmesan cheese. Simple but so good!
The air fryer makes them even easier to make. Just 7 minutes and you’re all set! (Though if you don’t have an air fryer, baking instructions are included as well.)
Why You’ll Love This Air Fryer Appetizer
Here are a few reasons we love making these stuffed mushrooms in the air fryer.
- Perfect for all occasions. These cream cheese stuffed mushrooms are perfect for a dinner party, served as an appetizer at a holiday gathering, or just served as a side dish anytime.
- Easy to prepare. From start to finish, you can have these mushrooms on the table in under 25 minutes.
- Can be prepped in advance. If you’re trying to cut down on the work you need to do the day of a party, you can assemble these mushrooms in advance and then just pop them in the oven or air fryer.

Ingredients Needed
These stuffed mushrooms with cream cheese are made with just a handful of ingredients and spices.
(Scroll below to the printable recipe card for details and measurements.)
- Baby mushrooms – See notes below.
- Cream cheese – Softened so it’s easier to combine with the other ingredients.
- Breadcrumbs – Adds some texture to the filling.
- Parmesan cheese – Shredded from the block for best flavor.
- Seasonings – Fresh parsley, garlic powder, salt, and pepper are all you need to season these stuffed mushrooms.
What Mushrooms Should I Use?
Both baby bella and button mushrooms work well in this recipe. I like using baby bellas because I think they look nicer but that’s just my personal preference.
One thing to keep in mind is you want mushrooms that are big enough that when you remove the stem, there’s plenty of space for the filling (while still being bite-sized). And look for mushrooms that are fresh and firm, not bruised, soft, or slimy.
Easy Variations & Add-Ins
Here are a few ways to customize your stuffed mushrooms:
- Use a different cheese, like cheddar
- Add some cooked diced bacon
- Stir in some cooked ground sausage or diced pepperoni
- Try it with shredded chicken and buffalo sauce
- Make it spicy with diced jalapenos or red pepper flakes
- Adjust the seasoning

Can I Make These In The Oven?

Tips for Success
Here are a few tips for making the best stuffed mushrooms in the air fryer.
- Don’t use excess water to clean the mushrooms. Mushrooms are very porous, so you do not want to run them under water to wash them off. Instead, use a damp paper towel to wipe them clean.
- Try to use mushrooms that are the same size. That way everything cooks evenly. If one or two are bigger than the rest, you may want to cook them for an additional minute or two.
- Don’t crowd the air fryer. Leave plenty of room between the mushrooms so the air can circulate. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook them in batches.

Serving Suggestions
Mushrooms stuffed with cream cheese are a great appetizer for a dinner party. We love to serve them before “nicer” meals, like grilled steak, honey glazed almon, or scallop piccata.
They’re also fantastic for holiday parties or just for casual dinners with the family – the air fryer makes them so easy.
How to Store & Reheat Leftovers
- Prepare in advance. You can assemble these in advance. Just prepare and stuff the mushrooms as directed, transfer them to a plate or baking dish, cover, and refrigerate. They can be assembled up to a day in advance. Note that you may need to add an extra minute or two to the cook time, unless you let them come to room temperature first.
- Fridge. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
- Reheat. You can reheat the mushrooms in the microwave but I prefer to pop them back in the air fryer, just long enough for them to heat through.
