How to Make a Wendy’s Frosty Copycat
To make a homemade Frosty you’ll just need to combine the ingredients and freeze.
(Scroll below to the printable recipe card for details and measurements)
- Combine the ingredients. Pulse the ingredients in a blender until smooth.
- Freeze. Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container. Freeze for 3 to 4 hours. Stir every 45 minutes, to create the perfect texture and thickness.
- Serve. Spoon into glasses and serve.
Can I Make These in Individual Servings?
To make individual Frostys, combine and pulse the ingredients as described above. Then, instead of pouring everything into one large container, pour the mixture into sealed mason jars. Fill each one 1/2 full and freeze. Remove the jar from the freezer every 20 minutes for 1 to 2 hours and give it a good shake, to reach that perfect Frosty consistency. Enjoy with a spoon straight from the jar!
Can I Make A Wendy’s Frosty With an Ice Cream Machine?
Yes, you can use an ice cream maker to make a Frosty and even speed up the process!
- Blend the ingredients. Pulse all ingredients in the blender until smooth.
- Freeze. Pour the mixture into a prepared ice cream maker and freeze, according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Check frequently for the desired consistency. It took us roughly 40 minutes to get the appropriate texture.
Tips for Success
Here are a few tips for making the best homemade Frosty.
- Work in two batches. You’ll likely need to make this in two batches, since most blenders only hold about 8 cups. Overall, the full recipe makes about 16 cups of shake/Frosty.
- Divide into multiple freezer containers. If you don’t have a freezer-safe container large enough to hold all of the Frosty mixture, divide it up into 2 or 3 smaller batches to put in the freezer. Keep in mind, if you freeze the frosty mixture in smaller batches the freeze time will be slightly shorter.
- Don’t overfill the containers. Make sure you don’t fill the container to the very top, the mixture will expand a bit as it freezes.
- Make your own chocolate milk. No need to buy chocolate milk to make this Wendy’s milkshake. You can easily substitute regular milk with a few spoonfuls of Nesquick or Hershey’s syrup.
Proper Storage
You can make the “batter” in advance and have it ready to go whenever you are. We keep it stored in a sealed container, unfrozen, for up to 5 days. Alternatively, you could make and freeze a large batch and keep it stored for up to 3 weeks.
