Tips & Variations
Here are a few tips and tricks for making this shrimp dip.
- Adjust the heat level. If you want to make a spicy shrimp dip, add some more hot sauce or sprinkle in some cayenne pepper. You could even add in some diced jalapenos.
- Can I use other shrimp? Yes, you can use canned shrimp, or if you want to use raw shrimp, cook it yourself and then dice it into smaller pieces. The key is very small pieces that can be evenly distributed throughout the dip and make it easier to eat.
- Add different seasonings. In place of the garlic powder, you can try this dip with other seasonings like Old Bay or Cajun seasoning.
Serving Suggestions
Serve the shrimp dip immediately, while it’s warm and gooey and melty. I love to serve this with toasted sourdough pieces, but there’s many options like:
- Tortilla chips
- Pita chips
- Crackers
- Cucumbers & carrots
- Pretzels
Proper Storage
- Make ahead. You can prepare the dip as directed, up to the point of transferring it to the skillet, then cover and refrigerate the skillet overnight. Let come to room temperature on the counter for 20-30 minutes then bake as directed.
- Fridge. Store leftover shrimp dip in the fridge, either covered with plastic wrap or in an airtight container. It will last for up to 3 days.
- Reheat. Reheat the dip in the oven until the cheese has melted again or you can pop individual servings in the microwave.
