Easter Chocolate Bark Recipe
It’s no secret how much I love chocolate bark and altering it to fit the holiday or occasion. With just a few simple ingredients and only a couple minutes, it’s such a quick and easy fun treat. And the possibilities are practically endless when you consider different mix-ins and colors. Today we’re celebrating Easter with some Easter Chocolate Bark featuring pink and purple, pretzel pieces, and pastel M&Ms candy.
Wedges of chocolate bark are perfect any time of year and make such a simple sweet treat for classroom parties. This also makes a wonderful edible gift โ try stacking pieces between some parchment paper and tying them with a pink or purple ribbon!
Helpful Tips & Variations
- Candy Melts. I prefer Wilton candy melts or Ghirardelli White Melting Wafers for making chocolate bark. As much as I love regular white chocolate chips, they are manufactured with additives to hold their shape, so they donโt melt as easily and also once hardened, the bark tends to soften at room temperature.
- Using white chocolate instead. If you prefer using regular white chocolate, I recommend combining it with some coconut oil, which will help thicken it up and harden faster. Youโll need about 1 tablespoon coconut oil per 1 cup of chocolate.
- Pretzel sticks. I add broken up pretzel sticks for the sweet/salty balance. You can replace the pretzels with chopped nuts, like almonds, or include both!
- Pastel colored M&Ms. I also add on some M&Ms. If you can find Easter-style sprinkles, a tablespoon of those scattered over the top would be so cute.
- Food dye. I colored my vanilla melting wafers pink and purple, but use whatever colors you like. Alternatively, you can swirl together some melted white melting wafers and melted colored candy melts to avoid the food dye.
- Breaking it up into pieces. I like the rustic look of uneven pieces, so I simply break the bark up with my hands. But you can also cut the bark into perfect squares with straight edges, if you prefer. To do this, place the blade of a sharp knife in hot water for 30 seconds, then dry the blade and place it against the bark to score the sections. Allow the heat of the blade melt a line into the bark, then cut.
