Easy Boursin Cheese Pasta Recipe

This Boursin cheese pasta recipe is based on my baked feta pasta—both were inspired by popular TikTok reels, and both are easily two of my favorite easy meals.

Like my baked feta pasta recipe, this baked Boursin pasta begins with cheese and tomatoes baked until the tomatoes burst, then stirred together to create a sauce. However, in this recipe, I added a few extra ingredients, like mushrooms and spinach, and instead of feta, I opted for garlic and herb Boursin cheese, which is amazing.

The end result is a ridiculously creamy, ultra-flavorful pasta dish that takes just 35 minutes total, with only 5 minutes of prep!

Helpful Tips & Variations

  • Reserve pasta water. Depending on how thick you want the sauce, you may want to thin it out a bit after you add the pasta. The best way to do this is with a splash of pasta water, as the starch from the pasta helps create a smooth, creamy texture.
  • Add the spinach to the hot sauce. You need the heat of the roasted ingredients to wilt the spinach so be sure to stir it in immediately. Fresh spinach is best for this recipe.
  • Adjust the mix-ins. I love the combination of tomatoes, mushrooms, and spinach in my Boursin pasta but feel free to omit the mushrooms or spinach as desired.

Boursin Cheese Pasta

Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 30 minutes
Total: 35 minutes
Servings: 6 servings
This Boursin Cheese Pasta features rotini, veggies, and mouthwatering garlic and herb Boursin cheese. With only 5 minutes of prep and the oven doing the rest, this creamy baked pasta is irresistibly delicious for an effortless, weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz. dried rotini, (or similar short pasta)
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes
  • 8 oz. sliced cremini mushrooms
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • coarse salt and pepper, to taste
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 5.2 oz. round block of Boursin garlic and herb cheese, (kept whole)
  • 1 cup packed roughly chopped fresh spinach
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan
  • shaved Parmesan, for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Place the cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, and garlic in an oven-safe greased 9×13 baking dish. Drizzle the olive oil on top and season with salt, fresh cracked pepper, and red pepper flakes. Toss to coat.
  • Push tomatoes and mushrooms to the sides, then place the Boursin round in the middle, having the tomatoes and mushrooms surround it.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, until the cherry tomatoes burst, the mushrooms are roasted, and the cheese melts.
  • In the meantime, cook the pasta in a pot of salted boiling water according to package directions until al dente. Drain, reserving 1 cup of the cooking liquid.
  • When the Boursin and tomatoes are done cooking, immediately add in the spinach leaves, stirring so they wilt and to break down the cheese, combining everything to make a sauce.
  • Transfer the cooked pasta to the pan and toss to combine, adding in some of the reserved pasta water, if necessary, to achieve the desired consistency for the sauce. Stir in the grated Parmesan.
  • Serve immediately with some shaved Parmesan.

How to Make Boursin Cheese Pasta Step by Step

Veggies for Boursin pasta in a white baking dish.

Prepare the oven and veggies: Preheat the oven to 400°F and place 1 pint of cherry tomatoes, 8 oz. mushrooms, and 4 cloves of garlic in an oven-safe, greased 9×13 baking dish. Drizzle the veggies with ¼ cup olive oil and season with salt, fresh cracked pepper, and ¼ tsp of red pepper flakes. Toss to coat the veggies well.

A block of Boursin cheese surrounded by veggies in a white baking dish.

Push tomatoes and mushrooms to the side of the dish and then place 1 whole block of Boursin cheese in the middle, then move the tomatoes and mushrooms to surround it.

Bake: Bake the veggies and cheese for 30 minutes, or until the cherry tomatoes burst, the mushrooms are roasted, and the cheese melts.

A measuring cup scooping out pasta water from a pot of boiling pasta.

Prepare the pasta: Cook 12 oz. of pasta in salted boiling water according to package directions until al dente. Drain and keep 1 cup of the cooking liquid.

Adding spinach to the pan with the veggies and cheese.

Add the spinach: When the cheese and veggies are done cooking, stir in 1 cup of spinach, stirring so it wilts. Keep stirring to break down the cheese so that everything makes a sauce.

Adding pasta to the pan with the veggies and sauce.

Add the pasta: Transfer the cooked pasta to the baking pan and toss to combine with the sauce, adding in some of the reserved pasta water, if necessary, to achieve your desired consistency for the sauce. Stir in the grated Parmesan.

Serve: Serve immediately with some shaved Parmesan or even some fresh herbs, like basil or parsley. Enjoy!

How to Store

While this pasta is best fresh, you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. I don’t recommend freezing this as the cheese sauce gets grainy once thawed.

Reheat the pasta in the microwave or on the stovetop. You may need to add a splash of water or broth to thin the sauce just a bit.

What to Serve With Boursin Cheese Pasta

I find this pasta makes an excellent meal on its own, though a side salad and some garlic bread are never a bad idea.

I freaking LOVE this easy recipe. I add cooked shrimp at the end. It’s so delicious that I nearly finished the whole thing by myself. Oops! I would like to make it for my family. Would doubling the ingredients and baking in the same size dish work? Do I have to adjust the time?

So fast and easy yet very delicious. Loved thatnit had so many vegetables.

  3. Gretchen says:

This sounds amazing! I like a lot of sauce. Would it be ok to add a second Boursin cheese or would that throw off the flavor? I’ve never cooked with Boursin before. I am planning on adding cooked chicken.

    1. Amy@BellyFull says:

Hi Gretchen! You can definitely add in another round of Boursin (it’ll make it very rich, but nothing wrong with that.) Also make sure to save even more pasta water and stir in as much as necessary to achieve your desired sauce, since the extra Boursin will make it very thick. Enjoy!

  4. Vicky Lorencen says:

Is it okay to add a protein, like diced or shredded chicken?

    1. Amy@BellyFull says:

      Sure!

  5. Car says:

If I make in morning, will it taste fresh for 4:00 pm – for staff dinner. Can it be reheated in oven?

    1. Amy@BellyFull says:

Any dish with a creamy sauce is always going to feel and taste best served right away. But if necessary, you can reheat it, adding a touch of water or broth to thin it out again.

This was incredibly good! I am not the cook of my house so I struggle to contribute. I was looking for recipes that were easy for beginners but not a crockpot meal. This recipe is AWESOME!!!!!! My husband (the cook) loved it and wants me to save to make again!!!!

    1. Sherri says:

Would substituting fresh basil for the spinach work?

      1. Amy@BellyFull says:

You could use a little basil, but not too much or the flavor will overpower the entire dish.

This recipe never fails. Perfect as dinner for two and lunches the next day. Recently used the Heavenly Mini San Marzano tomatoes instead of Cherry Tomatoes. This was a nice addition. The tomatoes were meatier and held up well in the roasting. Also added sliced mushrooms, basil and diced pancetta.to roasting dish. Fantastic

I only made half the recipe so there were no leftovers. Only thing I did different is to add bell pepper and onions to everything else. Will definitely make this again.

Delicious…did not have spinach, so I used zucchini. I served it as a main dish with garlic bread, but it would make a great side dish too. I think it would pair well with baked white fish or grilled chicken! My husband loved it…he is Gluten Free so I used GF penne pasta! This dish is a perfect dish to take to friends!!

    1. Jenn N says:

Which gluten free pasta do you use? I’ve used several because of my bf’s gluten sensitivity and they just don’t compare to regular pasta :(

This recipe is easy to make, quite tasty, and, and cozy on a cold day.

Because my family likes more sauce, I put in a little less pasta than is listed in recipe. The flavors blend so nicely.
