The truth about food blogging: it’s a lot of work. Some bloggers make it look so easy, with their endless eye-popping photos and effortless words that flow off the page. Posting daily. But experimenting, cooking, photographing, writing, and formatting takes time, effort, and focus. And for a lot of people, what first started as a hobby, evolves into a job.
I couldn’t be happier that this little space among the vast interweb has become a job for me, but as with any job, there are deadlines and stress and aggravation to contend with. You know…the administration side of things.
My site was down for almost 3 days, with missing images and category links. Who knows if anyone even noticed! But for me, it’s like having a broken arm – and I couldn’t find a doctor to fix it. Where are all the awesome programmers when you need them?!
I’m not a good patient, and I don’t handle stress well. When this kind of situation happens, my family knows to expect cold sandwiches, salads, and cereal for dinner (which actually worked out this week since it was hotter than blazes here at 111 degrees!)
I also made pizza in 22 minutes. I’d never had “white” pizza. This was so simple and tasty. And not boring like the photo would imply – I was so preoccupied I forgot to garnish with something green. But don’t let that stop you!
Put this in your arsenal for those days when your kids have siphoned off all your energy, your computer crashes, or your job sucks and you just can’t deal.

I love white pizza. Billy hates it. What is wrong with that man? I feel your pain with the stress of blogging. I hope you’re able to continue without causing too much stress for yourself! <3 you!
I kind of think of my blog as an extension of myself so the one time it went down, I swore I felt like I was going into cardiac arrest. So I understand. I’m glad it’s back up! I couldn’t live without my Amy!
I blog since 2008 and I couldn’t agree with you more! It is a job indeed, and sometimes overwhelming too! But I love it and I keep doing it because I’ve learned so many things and met so many people all these years. Now, pizza is my best Italian meal and I could probably eat it everyday. This one looks totally delicious and tempting!
Looks sooo yummy, Amy! You have so many easy recipes that pack a serious flavor punch. Thanks!
Yay! I’m glad you liked the pizza!
As for blog problems–ugh. I’m glad they’re resolved, because that kind of thing stresses me out.
