Comeback Sauce is creamy, spicy, and completely yummy! It’s the perfect condiment for dipping fries and chicken fingers or adding to sandwiches and burgers. We love to keep some on hand in the fridge to add to anything that needs a pop of flavor. It can take any ordinary sandwich or finger food up several notches!

This dipping sauce is a Southern staple and a cousin of remoulade sauce, made with mayo, ketchup, and sriracha plus a few seasonings. It’s one of those versatile condiments that can be used on practically anything. I love to offer it as an additional condiment at parties and picnics, and we almost always have some in the fridge. (And if we don’t, my family always requests I make more.)

Tips & Variations

  • Use your favorite hot sauce. I use sriracha in my comeback sauce because it’s what we love and I always have it on hand. However, any spicy chili sauce can be used.
  • Make it less spicy. This comeback sauce recipe isn’t super spicy, though it definitely has some heat from the sriracha. To make it less spicy, reduce the amount of sriracha used. You can always taste test and add more as desired.
  • Make it spicier. To give this comeback sauce an extra spicy twist, add a few splashes of regular hot sauce, like Frank’s. Just be careful because it can get very spicy very quickly! You can also add some cayenne pepper to the mix.
  • Give it time to chill. While you can definitely use this sauce immediately, I like to prepare it in advance and give it at least an hour or two to chill. This really gives the flavors time to meld and makes for an even tastier dipping sauce.

Ways To Use It

Comeback sauce doubles as both a dipping sauce and a condiment. We most often use it to dip French fries and potato wedges. It’s also great for dipping finger foods like fried pickles and chicken fingers served with my KFC coleslaw.

Another way to use it is as a condiment on sandwiches and burgers. It’s a popular addition to po’ boys in the South and could replace the remoulade on my shrimp po’ boy. We’ve also added it to crispy chicken sandwiches, bird dog sandwiches, and burgers.

Proper Storage

Comeback sauce should be stored in an airtight container, such as a glass jar, in the fridge. It will stay good for up to a week, though we usually devour it long before that!
