Entertain your friends and family this season with a beautiful Fall-Themed Charcuterie Board filled with cured meat, nuts, dried fruit, jam, cheeses, and chocolate – easy to put together, fun to eat, and delicious!
Easy Charcuterie Board For Fall
And just like that it’s Fall. We are less than two months away from Thanksgiving! And what better way to celebrate with friends and family, than setting out a beautiful Fall-Themed Charcuterie Board with all the wonderful foods Fall has to offer.
So, last weekend we had guests over and to welcome in the new season, I put together a snack board that included the best combination of sweet, salty, soft, and crunchy – a textural and flavor explosion.
Salty cured meats and crunchy nuts pair so well with dried fruit like prunes, while onion jam, cheeses, and chocolate provide some sweetness balanced with great mouth feel.
What to include on a Fall-Themed Charcuterie Board
Most people immediately think of apples, pumpkin, and squash when it comes to foods for the Fall season. When creating my Fall Charcuterie Board, I didn’t want anything cooked that could break down or needed to stay warm.
(Scroll below to the printable recipe card for details and measurements for each item.)
- Something sweet! Whole prunes, raw slices or cubes of apple and pear. Whole grapes and/or dried cranberries.
- Something salty! Crackers, roasted almonds, green olives, Prosciutto, and hard cheeses (like Parmesan, Manchego, or Gruyere.)
- Something chocolate-y! Chocolate covered pretzels, sea salt dark chocolate, butter pecan truffles, and caramel chocolate wafers.
- Something spreadable! Homemade ricotta with honey and some fig jam or onion jam.
The Best Boards Are Balanced
How to Build a Charcuterie Board
There are no rules to building your board, but there is a slight process to make it easy.
(Scroll below to the printable recipe card for details and measurements for each item.)
- Put all your spreadable items (like jams, honey, ricotta) into small Ramekins or shallow dishes, and place those on the board first.
- Then add any meats and cheeses.
- Next are the crackers (or bread), and pretzels.
- Fill in pockets with chocolate and dried and/or fresh fruit.
- If you didn’t fill your Ramekins with nuts or olives, you can fill in other pockets with these items.
- Serve immediately or chill until ready to serve.
Charcuterie Boards are so much fun to build and bring out the creative genius in all of us!
Make-Ahead Prep and Storing Leftovers
Charcuterie is great for parties because all of the items taste good at room temperature and can handle being on display for long periods of time without the ingredient quality suffering too much.
- Make ahead. I recommend preparing your board the day of serving to prevent any of the cheese and prosciutto from drying out, but you can do so up to 24 hours in advance. Cover the entire board tightly with plastic wrap and store in the fridge, then bring close to room temperature before serving.
- Storing leftovers. Any items that are left out for over 4 hours at room temperature should be thrown away. If cleaned up within 4 hours, perishable items (meat, cheeses, fresh fruits) should be bagged or packaged up and refrigerated and can be kept for up to 4 days.
