Creating A Hot Dog Bar

When my son used to play Little League, not only did I love watching him play, I also loved the snack shack! HA.

They always had the most interesting ice cream flavors, fresh popcornโ€ฆand the best grilled hot dogs. They used Ball Park Parkโ€™s Finest,ย including Signature Seasoned, Slow Cooked Hickory, Cracked Dijon Mustard, Slow Cooked Chili, and Jalapeรฑo Cheddar.

Made me think how great it would be to create a Hot Dog Bar for summer gatherings. And I did just that! With a revolving door of friends enjoying our pool with us, this is a super fun way to feed everyone and not break my back.

Hot Dog Sandwich Combinations

There are so many different flavor and texture combinations for a fun hot dog bar. These are just a few ideas. Get creative!

  • Hawaiian – grilled pineapple, grilled red onion, cayenne pepper
  • Mexican – grilled corn, soft cotija cheese, jalapeรฑo peppers
  • BLT – bacon, lettuce, tomato
  • Reuben – sauerkraut, shredded swiss cheese, Thousand Island dressing
  • Taco – ground beef, shredded cheddar cheese, salsa
  • West Virginian – chili, coleslaw, mustard

And, of course, nothing beats just classic ketchup and mustard!

Another fun way to serve hot dogs is by spiral grilling them! It’s easy to do and creates more surface area to caramelize. Delicious!

Tips For A Smooth Party

  • Plan early. Plan out your menu a week ahead of time and prep any “dry” ingredients the day before.
  • Buy extra. Buy a little bit more food than you need – you never know who’s going to want seconds.
  • Consider allergies and dietary needs. Think about your guests’ different dietary needs, and make sure you have options for them.
  • Have enough propane. If your grill uses propane, have an extra tank on hand. Nothing worse than running out of propane!
  • Ditch the boring plates. Get some cute little hot dog baskets and liners!
  • Don’t forget the ice. Remember to buy ice for the cooler.
  • Have fun! Don’t take it too seriously – they’re just hot dogs! HA.

There’s nothing like summer grilling!

Well that West Virginian hot dog has me all craving an early lunch! Seriously love this spread and I need to try those Ballpark Signature Seasoned. I haven’t seen them yet but I’ll be on the lookout! The Cracked Dijon Mustard sounds incredible.

There is something about a hot dog sandwich that just can’t be matched. It must be the high fat content!
We do have a favorite brand, but am willing to give these a try. Even though we are purists with only chopped onions and mustard, I love the combinations you put together.
