Helpful Tips & Variations
- Watermelon. You can use a large watermelon or a mini watermelon, seedless or with seeds since you will be straining the juice. If you choose not to strain it you will likely need to deseed the watermelon before making the recipe.
- Sweetener. You can make your own simple syrup by boiling equal parts water and sugar until the sugar dissolves and thickens, then let cool, or buy some at the store. The amount needed will depend on how naturally sweet your watermelon is. You can use granulated sugar instead of simple syrup, but it may not fully dissolve, so it’s not my preference. Honey or agave are also great alternatives.
- Lime juice. You can use lemon juice instead of lime juice as an alternative. Though fresh lime or lemon juice works best you can also use juice from concentrate as well.
Watermelon Juice

- lime slices, , optional garnish
Instructions
- Place the cubed watermelon, simple syrup, and lime juice in a food processor or blender and blend for about 2-3 minutes or until the mixture forms a thick liquid.
- Pour the juice through a fine mesh sieve to strain out the seeds and any large pulp. Use a spoon to stir up the pulp and push out all the liquid.

Watermelon Juice Benefits
I love this juice because not only is it refreshing, it’s super hydrating. Watermelon is 92% water. This juice is a great way to stay hydrated in the summer heat, especially when water feels too boring.
Not to mention it’s full of antioxidants, vitamins, amino acids, and all other good stuff that helps nourish your entire body. (Source) Plus watermelon is naturally sweet so a tall glass of watermelon juice can curb your sweet tooth too. (You can use less simple syrup if sugar is a concern.)
Serving Suggestions
This Watermelon Juice is kid and family friendly but if you’d like to spice it up for an adult summer party simply add vodka and mix it up! A common juice to vodka ratio is 2:1, but I recommend starting with less vodka and adjust to taste.
If you want to take this up to a fancy cocktail version pour some lime juice in a shallow dish and white granulated sugar in a second shallow dish and then dip the rim of your glasses in the juice and then the sugar to create a sugar rimmed glass. Pour in the adult version of the watermelon juice and go impress your guests!
How to Store & Freeze
- Storing leftovers. Any leftover watermelon juice should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and used within 3-4 days.
- To freeze. You can also freeze this watermelon juice for 1-2 months. It will expand when frozen so be sure to store it in a container large enough to accommodate that. It can be thawed in the fridge or on the counter. Some separation is normal.
