Easy St. Patrick’s Day Chocolate Covered Oreos
If Iโm being completely honest, the mint Oreos are probably my least favorite of the Oreo family. Although thatโs relative. I mean, on a scale of 1-10 (10 being, complete and total weakness for), the mint variety would still rank 9. And their green quality is pretty much a given when it comes to St. Patrickโs Day.
If you have little kids that want to get involved, this is a great recipe for them. Itโs easy, requires no baking, and they can easily dunk the cookies in the chocolate or sprinkle the colored sugar.
You can make as many or as few of these St. Patrick’s Day Oreos as you like, really. I made the entire box, of course! HA.
Ingredients Needed
You only need 3 ingredients to make this no bake treat.
(For all the details, scroll below to the complete printable recipe card.)
- Mint green Oreo cookies – The mint green Oreos are perfect for Saint Patrick’s Day, but you could certainly use any type of Oreo for these if you wanted.
- Almond bark – I prefer this over white chocolate. You could also use candy melts (see note below.)
- Green sanding sugar – This adds some festive color to the white chocolate. You could also use green sprinkles.
What’s the Best Chocolate to Use?
I prefer almond bark, Wilton candy melts, or Ghirardelli white melting wafers for these white chocolate dipped Oreos and other candy-making. They have a smooth consistency when melted and once dried and hardened, they donโt soften at room temperature. If you want to use regular white chocolate or white chocolate chips, I recommend combining it with some coconut oil which will help it thicken up and harden faster. Youโll need around 1 tablespoon of coconut oil per 1 cup of chocolate.

How to Make St. Patrick’s Day Oreos
These candy coated Oreos are so easy to make in just 3 steps, then let harden. No oven needed!
(Donโt miss the detailed printable recipe card below.)
- Melt the almond bark. Melt the almond bark according to package directions, until melted and smooth.
- Dunk an Oreo. Dunk an Oreo into the chocolate, so that half of the cookie gets coated with the melted chocolate. (With a finger, gently swipe off any excess thatโs hanging at the bottom.)
- Decorate with the colored sugar. Lightly sprinkle the green sanding sugar over the chocolate.
- Let harden. Lay the Oreos on a parchment-lined cookie sheet to set.
TIP! Sprinkle the Sanding Sugar Immediately

Proper Storage
You can store your chocolate covered Oreos at room temperature for about a day, just be sure to keep them out of direct sunlight. Otherwise, store in the fridge for up to a week. If you need to layer them, place parchment paper between each layer.

Oreos, the go-to everything! And now in St. Patty green. You are mean. The doc says I have to cut down on sugar. Thank heavens! I thought he was going to say to cut down on green Oreos.
This was just the perfect simple treat for my daughter’s classroom party – I actually brought in a ton of the ingredients and all the kids made them! So fun.
These were so easy and cute! Made them with my 6 year old.
And I just gave up sugar! (only for a week!)
