Chewy and chocolatey Snickers, crunchy and tart apples, and sweetened tangy cream cheese combine to offer the perfect blend of flavors and textures in this Snickers Salad. It’s a fruit salad that easily passes for dessert but can also be enjoyed as a sweet side dish. It’s a classic summer staple!

Ya ya, I know. “Snickers” and “salad” in the same sentence, really? HA. But in the same vein as my frog eye salad, creamy grape salad, or ambrosia salad, it’s basically a sweet dessert fruit salad. And it’s DELISH. I love the blend of sweet, tart, and tangy flavors as well as the variety of textures in this dish. My other favorite thing is that it’s made with just a handful of ingredients and ready in a few minutes, so I can whip it up anytime for my family or friends coming over!

Helpful Tips & Variations

  • Use a tart apple. A tart crisp apple like Granny Smith is ideal for this recipe to balance out the sweetness.
  • Prevent the apples from browning. If you’ll be making this salad ahead of time, toss the apple slices with just a bit of lemon juice, then pat dry before folding in.
  • Add pecans before serving. If not serving right away, wait to add the pecans, otherwise they get too soft. The crunch they add is a nice contrast to the other textures.
  • Add some grapes. Feel free to add in some halved red grapes for extra color and sweetness.
  • Use a different candy bar. The Snickers can be swapped out for a similar softer candy bar, like 3 Musketeers or Milky Way. For crunch, you could use Kit Kats or Twix.
  • Mix in some pudding. Try it with instant pudding mix whisked with milk (Vanilla, French vanilla, Butterscotch, or chocolate are all great variations.)

Serving Suggestions

I love to serve Snickers salad as a summertime dessert. It’s sweeter than other fruit salads and has more of a dessert element, but still light. For an extra dessert twist, finish the salad with a drizzle of caramel sauce or chocolate sauce. It’s also great for potlucks and picnics, alongside other summer favorites like hawaiian pineapple chicken kabobs and turkey burgers.

Proper Storage

Apple Snickers salad can be made up to 1 day before serving, tightly covered in the fridge. I’ve stored leftovers for an additional day or two but the salad is definitely best enjoyed within 1-2 days. Give it a gentle mix before serving again. This recipe is not freezer-friendly.

This was so delicious and refreshing and surprisingly not as sweet as I was expecting. Probably because of the tart apple and only 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar. We loved it!
