Disneyland Grilled Cheese

One of my favorite parts of any Disney trip is the food, and these savory Disneyland Grilled Cheese Copycat sandwiches are right up there with their dreamy sugary treats. They’re rich, melty, and ridiculously delicious, with not one, not two, but THREE kinds of cheese. Between the creamy cheese spread, the gooey sliced cheeses, and the garlic-infused toasted bread, this one tastes every bit as indulgent as it sounds.

I sure do love a grilled cheese! But this particular grilled cheese is off the charts. It’s a copycat of the famous grilled three-cheese sandwich served at Woody’s Lunch Box in Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios. It starts with layers of sharp Cheddar, provolone, and a rich cream cheese mixture, all tucked inside thick slices of white bread (I use Texas toast) for the ultimate cheesy pull. But my favorite part is the garlicky mayo spread on the outside. It adds so much flavor and helps the bread toast up beautifully golden and crisp in the skillet. This copycat Disneyland grilled cheese makes the best lunch or dinnertime treat!
Helpful Tips & Variations
- Use thick sliced white bread. Disney uses sourdough for theirs, but I love Texas toast because it’s soft, thick, and sturdy enough to hold all the cheesy filling. Any hearty sliced white bread will work, including country white or bakery-style sandwich bread.
- Shred your own Cheddar if you can. It melts more smoothly into the cream cheese compared to pre-shredded cheese, which often contains anti-caking agents.
- Mince the garlic well. You want it very finely minced here, not chunky, so it blends smoothly into the mayo. That way, the garlic can mellow as the sandwiches cook without overpowering the cheese.
- Start with a hot skillet. A fully heated skillet helps the bread become golden brown while the cheese gets melty inside. Don’t overcrowd the pan, either. Each sandwich needs direct contact with the skillet to toast evenly.

How to Make Disneyland Grilled Cheese Copycat Step by Step

Gather all of your ingredients.

Make the cream cheese mixture: Mix together 4 ounces softened cream cheese, ยฝ cup freshly shredded sharp Cheddar cheese, 1ยฝ tablespoons heavy cream, and ยผ teaspoon coarse salt until well combined. Set aside.

Make the garlic mayo: In a separate bowl, mix together ยฝ cup mayonnaise, 2 very finely minced garlic cloves, and the remaining ยผ teaspoon coarse salt. Set that aside as well.

Assemble the sandwiches: Lay out 4 slices of the Texas Toast bread and place 2 slices of sharp Cheddar cheese on each piece of bread.

Spread cream cheese mixture, layer more cheese, and finish with garlicky-mayo: Divide the cream cheese mixture evenly over the Cheddar slices, then add 2 slices of provolone cheese to each sandwich. Place the remaining 4 slices of Texas Toast on top to close the sandwiches. Now spread half of the mayonnaise mixture over the tops of the sandwiches. Turn them over and spread the rest onto the other side.

Toast the sandwiches: Set a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the sandwiches and cook until the bread is golden and toasted and the cheese is fully melted, flipping as needed so both sides brown evenly. Serve and enjoy!

Serving Suggestions
Because this Disneyland grilled cheese copycat is so rich and cheesy, it pairs really well with lighter sides like a cucumber tomato salad. Tomato soup is always a good idea too, especially if you want something cozy and classic! But if you’re recreating the full Disney restaurant experience, add a side of tater tots or churros, and a root beer float (with or without alcohol!) or a homemade Dole Whip to really bring the magic home!
How to Store
- Fridge. These grilled three-cheese sandwiches are definitely best enjoyed fresh while the cheese is melty and the bread is still crisp. But I’m not letting leftovers go to waste! Once cooled, store them in an airtight container or zip-top bag in the fridge for up to 2 days.
- Reheat. Reheat in a skillet over low heat or in the air fryer until the bread crisps back up and the cheese is warmed through. I’d skip the microwave if possible, since it can make the bread soft.
