Rich & Decadent Black Forest Milkshake
I loved my black forest ice cream sundae recipe so much that I had to create a similar recipe – this one for adults only!
This boozy black forest milkshake features a rich chocolate and cherry flavor profile while being thick, creamy, and quite boozy. Even though it is a dessert drink, this milkshake does incorporate 3 different types of liquor so be sure to drink responsibly.
Why You’ll Love This Boozy Milkshake
Here are a few reasons to love this black forest milkshake.
- Only 4 ingredients. All you need is 3 different types of alcohol and chocolate ice cream to make this shake – though I like to add some garnishes too.
- Decadent flavor. Beyond the obvious chocolate flavor from the ice cream, this shake is enhanced by the black raspberry flavor of Chambord and rich creme de cacao flavor.
- Ready in 5 minutes. This boozy milkshake is super quick to make and ready in just 5 minutes.

What Flavor Is Black Forest?
Black forest is based off a cake made with chocolate and cherries. It’s also a popular ice cream flavor, again made with chocolate ice cream, cherries, and pieces of cake or brownies mixed in. This black forest milkshake combines those elements to be a super tasty chocolate cherry milkshake.
Recipe Ingredients
This chocolate cherry milkshake is made with just 4 ingredients plus toppings.

- Vodka – Any quality vodka will work.
- White creme de cacao – Enhances the chocolate flavor.
- Chambord – Chambord is a black raspberry liqueur, so it adds more flavor to the boozy milkshake.
- Chocolate ice cream – You can use regular chocolate ice cream, dark chocolate ice cream, or even black forest ice cream.
- Toppings – I like to garnish my black forest milkshake with homemade whipped cream, nutmeg, and a dark cherry.

Tips & Variations
Here are a few helpful tips and variations for your boozy black forest milkshake.
- Adjust the amount of liquor used. If you prefer a less boozy milkshake, you can skip the vodka. Or one of the other liqueurs, though skipping the creme de cacao or Chambord will affect the flavor.
- Blend in some cherries. If you love cherries, feel free to blend in a few pitted black cherries.
- Use your favorite ice cream. I used regular chocolate ice cream but dark chocolate would be incredible too, as would brownie ice cream or black cherry ice cream.
- Make it without liquor. To make a non-boozy black cherry milkshake, skip all the liqueurs and just add milk to reach the desired consistency when blending.
