When trying to decide what to make for dinner, chicken and beef always seem to be front runners, but we love pork chop recipes, too. They don’t get the attention they deserve, probably because more often then not they come out overdone, dry, tough, and flavorless. Not the case with this air fryer breaded pork chops recipe!
Ingredients for Air Fryer Pork Chops
This breaded pork chop recipe is truly a weeknight lifesaver, using only a handful of basic pantry ingredients.
- Pork Chops – this recipe calls for boneless pork chops that are 1/2-inch thick.
- Seasoning – kosher salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder come together for a simple, but delicious seasoning mixture.
- Breading – eggs, water, flour, Parmesan cheese, and Italian breadcrumbs make up the outer crust.
How to Cook Pork Chops in an Air Fryer
Cooking pork chops in an air fryer is incredibly easy. Here’s a quick summary. (Scroll below for the complete printable recipe.)
- Season your chops and dredge them in the egg mixture and breading, shaking off any excess.
- Place pork chops in the air fryer; spray the basket.
- If your air fryer requires preheating, set it to 400°F for 5 minutes.
- Spray the basket with nonstick cooking spray and place the pork chops in the basket, making sure they don’t touch. Spray the tops.
- Cook for 8 minutes, flipping and spraying the tops halfway through, until cooked though.
- Repeat with the remaining chops.
The great thing about an air fryer, is that you’re not really frying, but the food comes out all crispy and amazing, as if you were. It’s like an oven on steroids where the food cooks super fast without drying out, and bonus – you can avoid heating up your entire house, which is so nice in the summer months.
How Long to Cook Pork Chops in an Air Fryer
Depending on the thickness of your pork chops, if they are bone-in or boneless, and the temperature setting, they can take anywhere from 8-20 minutes to cook in an air fryer. This particular recipe calls for boneless chops that are a 1/2-inch thick, cooked at 400° F for 8 minutes, flipping once.
NOTE: These chops were made and tested in this Phillips model Air Fryer with a basket and requires preheating. If you own a different model air fryer, I would suggest doing a test run with one pork chop and then adjust the time/temp, if necessary. Air fryers are all similar, but just like ovens, cooking times can vary. My air fryer is also small. If yours is bigger than 3 quart, you can cook more than 2 pork chops at a time, as long as they’re not touching at all.
Recipe Variations
- You can swap out the seasoning I used for your favorite.
- This same air fryer method can be used with bone-in chops. As long as they are the same thickness, cooking time should stay the same. If not, cook through until an internal temperature reaches at least 145 degrees F.
- If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake these in a 400 degree F preheated oven for about 7 minutes, or until pork chops reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees F. Bone-in chops or pork chops that are thicker than 1/2-inch will take longer.
