15-minute Chex Mix Muddy Buddies with a Christmas holiday flair, including white chocolate, powdered sugar, pretzels, craisins, and pistachios!
I completely forgot about these, um, …Muddy Buddies? Puppy Chow? They’re essentially the same thing, and I pretty much spent an hour trying to decide what to label them.
Anyway, this recipe is from last Christmas, but I think I ran out of space in my editorial calendar, and never shared them. And so they got buried.
But it’s like finding money in the couch cushions!
It’s a really fun and addicting treat. Make a batch while school is still in session, so you can pawn some off in your kids’ lunch boxes. Otherwise, you will stand at the counter and eat all 14 cups. Fact.
- 1 box (12 ounces) Rice Chex Cereal
- 1 bag (12 ounce) white chocolate chips
- 3 tablespoons heavy cream
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup pretzel pieces
- 1 cup dried cranberries
- 1 cup roasted and salted shelled pistachios
Place cereal into an extra large mixing bowl.
In a microwaveable bowl, melt white chocolate chips and cream together on high for 1 minute; stir. Continue to microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring each time, until mixture is completely smooth.
Working quickly so the chocolate doesn't harden, drizzle mixture over cereal, stirring gently with a spatula until evenly coated. Pour into a 2-gallon re-sealable food storage plastic bag. Add powdered sugar, seal bag and toss gently until all the cereal is well-coated.
Place cereal back in the large bowl and toss with the pretzels, cranberries, and pistachios.
