Sheet Pan Oven Grilled Cheese turns a childhood classic into lunch for a crowd in just 20 minutes and with 3 simple ingredients - bread, cheese, and butter.
Preheat oven to 425°F. Place a sheet pan into the oven to preheat it.
Butter one side of the slices of bread.
Put three slices of the cheese onto the unbuttered side of 6 slices of bread. Top the cheese with another slice of bread with the butter side up.
Place the grilled cheese onto the preheated sheet pan.
Bake for 5 minutes, flip the sandwiches over and bake for another 5-7 minutes until the bread is golden brown and cheese is melty.
Notes
The bread. You can replace the white bread with wheat, sourdough, brioche, nine-grain, or rye, if preferred. The cheese.Cheddar cheese, provolone cheese, American cheese, Swiss cheese, and pepper jack are my favorites for making oven grilled cheese. If possible, have them freshly sliced for the best flavor and melting ability.Add some fillings. Feel free to add a little something extra to your sandwiches, like slices of ham or turkey, crumbled cooked bacon, or tomato slices.
