These Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes are the best recipe mash-up where sloppy joes and Philly cheesesteak collide! Super easy and yummy for lunch, dinner, or game day.
1 & 1/2cupsshredded sharp white cheddar or monterey jack cheese
6hamburger buns
Instructions
Preheat broiler.
In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and broth. Set aside.
Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium high. Add the onion, peppers and mushrooms; sauté 3 minutes until tender. Add in the beef and continue to cook, breaking it up and browning until no pink remains, for another 3 minutes. Drain off fat.
Add the garlic and sauté until fragrant. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire, taco seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Give the broth and cornstarch a quick stir and add it to the skillet; simmer for about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until mixture thickens slightly.
Scoop some mixture onto buns, top with 1/4 cup cheese, and stick under the broiler until melted-keep a close eye, so nothing burns! (Alternatively, you can simply add the cheese in with the meat mixture and stir until combined and melted.)
Serve warm with chips and enjoy!

Notes
Taco seasoning, really? I know this is not an ingredient in Philly cheesesteaks and it might sound odd. But it's really just a seasoning blend that adds great flavor to this recipe. It works, trust me! (Read all the positive reviews below.)Use a different protein or broth. If necessary, you can swap in ground turkey or ground chicken for the ground beef, and chicken or veggie broth for the beef broth. It will have a different flavor of course, but still good.Add some heat. If you want the mixture to have some heat, add in some chopped jalapeños or red pepper flakes.
