Crisp pears, sweet honey, nutty pecans, and a creamy spread come together is these easy Pear Tea Sandwiches. Cut into quarters and serve as a refreshing little bite for get-togethers or leave whole and enjoy for an easy light lunch!
Spread 1 & 1/2 tablespoons of cream cheese over one side of each slice of bread.
Evenly divide and sprinkle the pecans over the cream cheese of 4 slices of bread.
Top each of the 4 bread slices with pears, sprouts, a little drizzle of honey, and the other 4 bread slices, cream cheese side down.
Cut into squares or triangles and serve, with or without toothpicks.
Notes
Honey-pecan cream cheese. If you can't find this flavored cream cheese, just buy plain whipped cream cheese and stir in some honey and very finely chopped pecans.Use fresh ripe pears. Canned pears are too soft for these sandwiches. I prefer Bosc or Bartlett, but any type of pear works. No need to peel them unless you want to.Prevent your sandwiches from getting soggy. 1) Pat the pear slices dry and 2) spread the cream cheese on both pieces of bread, which creates a barrier between the fruit and the bread.Use a good sharp Chef’s knife to cut the sandwiches. Wipe it clean in-between cuts so the edges of each sandwich are neat looking. (A serrated knife can tear the bread and a dull knife will require too much pressure to cut and cause the filling to squeeze out.)
