1/2teaspoonkosher salt
1/4teaspoonpepper
1/4teaspoongarlic powder
1/4teaspoononion powder
1/8teaspooncrushed red pepper flakes
4hamburger buns, for serving
mayonnaise, romaine lettuce, tomato slices, and red onion slices, optional toppings
Instructions
Preheat an indoor or outdoor grill to medium-high heat.
In a large bowl, using your hands, mix together all of the ingredients until combined and well incorporated.
Divide and shape into 4 equal portions (approximately 3 1/2 inches in diameter and 3/4-inch thick.)
Oil the grill grates very well and drizzle each patty with a bit of olive oil to prevent sticking.
Grill burgers, covered, for about 5 to 6 minutes per side, or until no longer pink, juices run clear, and an internal temperature of 165 degrees F is reached with an instant read thermometer. (Watch the burgers carefully. If you notice them over-browning too quickly, adjust your heat, so they don't burn.)
(Alternatively, you can also cook these the same way on the stovetop with a pan that has a lid.)
Serve on buns slathered with mayonnaise, romaine lettuce, a slice of tomato and red onion. Enjoy with potato chips or French fries, if desired.
