Ingredients
1/4cupunsalted butter, softened to room temperature
1/4cupgranulated sugar
1teaspoonground cinnamon
pinchof salt
1/2teaspoonvanilla
4sliceswhite sandwich bread
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place oven rack 6 inches from the broiler.
In a small bowl, smoosh the butter, sugar, cinnamon, salt, add vanilla together until completely combined and it forms a paste.
Divide mixture evenly between the slices and spread over one side, covering the surface all the way to the edges. (It's going to seem like a lot, but trust me!)
Transfer bread slices to a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
Then turn the broiler on high and broil the toast until deep golden brown and the sugar is bubbling, about 1 to 2 minutes. (Watch it very carefully - the bread can go from glorious to burnt in seconds! Do not walk away.)
Allow the toast to cool slightly, slice in halves diagonally, and serve.
Notes
Use different bread. You can use whole wheat or brioche bread instead of white bread. All delish!Try brown sugar. Try swapping out the granulated sugar with brown sugar (or a combo of both!) So good. But do not skip the sugar.
