Cut 3 to 4 small slits in each hot dog, then place them in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Air fry for 6 minutes, or until they have achieved the level of doneness you prefer (all air fryers can cook a bit differently.)
Carefully remove the hot dogs from the air fryer and place one into each bun.
Place the buns with the hot dogs back into the air fryer and air fry for 1 more minute.(Sometimes I put the buns on a disposable paper liner, but that's optional. You may also need to do this in stages depending on the size of your basket.)
Once ready, add your favorite condiments and enjoy immediately!
Notes
Type of hot dogs. A good quality all-beef hot dog is a great choice here but if you need to feed a crowd on a budget go for a basic hot dog which also tastes really good when cooked in the air fryer. This recipe works great for vegetarian and vegan hot dogs, too!Why cut the slits? Cutting a few small slits in the hot dogs before air frying allows air to escape and makes sure they don’t burst open.
