15.25oz.box cake mix(see note)
12oz.can soda(see note)
Cool Whip and garnishesfor serving, optional
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat a 9x13 baking pan with nonstick spray.
Empty the boxed cake mix into a large mixing bowl. Pour the can of soda into the mix and whisk until it is completely smooth and lump-free (batter will get foamy).
Pour all the batter into the prepared pan and spread to an even layer. (Tap on the counter a couple times.)
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cake springs back when touched in the middle and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (start checking at 20 minutes; all ovens run differently.)
Let the cake cool completely in the pan before serving. This cake is more delicate than traditional cakes.
