This Pierogi recipe served with sautéed cabbage, onion, and apples is the most delicious thing! Make the Pierogi in advance and this is a 20 minute meal!
Pan fry the pierogi according to this recipe if you're making homemade, or the pan-fry directions on the box if store-bought.
In the meantime, warm the butter in a large nonstick pan over medium-high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft, about 4-5 minutes. Add the apple and cook for 2 minutes.
Add in the cabbage, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring, until the cabbage is slightly wilted but still crunchy, about 2 minutes.
Divide the cabbage mixture and pierogi among plates.
Serve with sour cream on the side, if desired.

Notes
The little bit of sugar gives a balance of flavor with the vinegar, but you can simply omit it, if you prefer.
