Keep this homemade Dry French Onion Soup Mix on hand for making a simple soup, a creamy dip, or for adding flavor to casseroles. It's gluten-free, preservative-free, and made with simple ingredients. SO much better than store-bought!
To make a simplified French Onion Soup broth, add 1 tablespoon of this dry mix to 4 cups of beef broth.* You can also combine 4 tablespoons of this mix with 16 ounces of sour cream for a creamy dip (which is the equivalent of Lipton packet.)
Taste, salt as needed (amount of salt depends on the broth you use.)
Notes
*I like to use Better Than Bouillon to save a little money and space, but it's very salty. I didn't need to add additional salt to my recipe for simple broth when using Better Than Bouillon’s beef flavor. I would taste as you go when it comes to adding any additional salt. (This mix is also a great way to add flavor to other dishes. Check the article for suggestions and proper storage.)
