6tablespoonflour

Instructions
Set a large 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
Add ground beef and onion to the skillet; brown the beef, breaking it up into tiny crumbles until no pink remains and the onions have softened. Drain off all the grease. Season with the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes.
Stir in the flour until no white patches remain.
Stir in the cream of mushroom soup until combined.
Very slowly pour in 2 cups of milk, a little at a time, and whisk until thick. (This might take a few minutes to get the gravy to your desired thickness. Alternatively, if the gravy gets too thick, add in more milk to thin it out.)
Taste and adjust the seasoning if it needs more. Serve over toast and a bit of hot sauce, if desired.

Notes
You can also use cream of celery soup or homemade white sauce instead of cream of mushroom soup.
The ground beef can be swapped for ground turkey or Italian sausage for a different flavor profile.
Add in some veggies like sautéed mushrooms, peas, or corn for more flavor and texture.
Stir in a splash of Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, or hot sauce for added depth of flavor.
