Instructions
Gather ingredients and preheat your oven to 375℉.
In a small bowl, combine 1 Tbsp of olive oil, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Stir it together to form the glaze.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and drizzle the salmon with the remaining Tbsp of olive oil. Salmon is a fatty fish, but adding a little extra oil helps keep it moist.
Brush or pour the glaze over the salmon.
Bake for 15 minutes or until 145℉ internal temperature is reached.

Notes
Fresh or frozen salmon both work well here. If using frozen, thaw it completely and pat it dry before glazing. Skin-on or skinless fillets are both fine. When buying salmon, look for firm, moist-looking flesh with an even color and no strong fishy smell.I used sockeye, but Atlantic, coho, or another salmon variety will also work. Sockeye tends to be leaner and often comes in thinner fillets, so it can cook a little faster. Whatever variety you use, start checking thinner pieces early and give thicker fillets a few extra minutes as needed until they reach 145℉ internally.
