Notes
Salted or unsalted butter can be used. I always make this with salted butter, but unsalted can be used as well. If you use unsalted butter, add in 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon coarse salt a little at a time, as salt is a must for bringing out the best flavor.Adjust the sweetness. Some might think this butter is too sweet, while others don’t think it’s sweet enough. It’s all personal taste. If you’re unsure, whip the butter and then start adding in the honey 1 tablespoon at a time until you get the results that suit you.Bourbon. Just a touch of bourbon infuses depth of flavor in the butter without giving an overwhelming taste of alcohol. Bulleit, Woodford Reserve, and Jeffers Creek are good choices, but use whatever bourbon you enjoy drinking.Storage. This can be stored in a ramekin or butter dish on the counter, covered, if it will be eaten within a couple days, or in the refrigerator in an airtight container, up to 2 weeks, then allow to come to room temperature before serving. You can also freeze it up to 2 months (thaw overnight in the refrigerator, then set out to reach room temperature.)
