Ingredients
4cupswater, divided
1 3/4cupsgranulated sugar
1 1/4cupslemon juice, freshly squeezed
Instructions
Pour half of the water into a small pot with the sugar. Place over medium heat and whisk to combine.
Continue to whisk until the sugar is fully dissolved - you know it is fully dissolved when the mixture becomes crystal clear like water. Take off the heat.
In a large pitcher add the remaining 2 cups of water.
Juice the lemons and strain it if you don’t want any pulp; add this to the pitcher. Pour in the sugar-water, stir to combine.
Place in the fridge for at least 2 hours or until chilled. Serve over ice.
Notes
Pink lemonade. To make pink lemonade you can add a couple of tablespoons of grenadine until you get your desired color.Limeade or grapefruitade. You can also use this ratio for limeade or grapefruitade. Just replace the lemon juice with lime or grapefruit juice.Orangeade. If you want to make orangeade, I would cut the sugar in half since oranges are naturally sweet. You can also use a mix of citrus juices for a fun twist!Strawberry lemonade. Want some fresh strawberries in your drink? Try out strawberry lemonade recipe.Boozy lemonade. Feel free to add in some vodka for a grown up drink.Reduce sugar for tart lemonade. This is a sweeter lemonade, which is my preference. If you like a more tart lemonade, only use 1 & 1/4 cup of sugar, everything else will stay the same.
