Take popcorn to the next level with just three simple ingredients, using butter, ranch seasoning, and dill.
We are popcorn junkies over here. I make it almost every single night. I stopped for a couple months because I couldn’t stand the absence of jingling collars and overly excited tail wags from Ebi and Ginger – it was their absolute favorite.
But with the release of Frozen on DVD, I figured it was time again. So, we surprised the kids (after making them clean their rooms – we’re no dummies!) and they were so excited. Mind you, I had already taken them to see it in the theatre. Twice! Didn’t matter. We all loved this movie so much.
They begged for popcorn and I said, “It’s coming, don’t worry.”
I usually prepare it with just some simple salt and butter, or Parmesan. But this time I sprinkled some Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning mix on there. Um, big hit. They were quiet through the movie for an entire 17 minutes. I timed it. 17 blissful minutes.
Thank goodness I have 2 tablespoons left in one of the Hidden Valley pouches. I’m totally keeping this one in the arsenal.
From dressings and dips to sandwich spreads and side dish solutions, the special blend of herbs and spices makes Hidden Valley the perfect addition to any recipe. For more delectable ranch recipes, visit www.hiddenvalley.com.
Makes 10 cups
Prep time: 10 minutes
• 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
• 1/4 cup canola oil
• 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
• 2 tablespoons Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning mix
• 1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed
In a 3-quart sized pot, heat oil over medium-high. Place 3 popcorn kernels in the oil. Once the kernels pop, add the rest of the kernels in an even layer, making sure they’re all coated with the oil. Cover and allow the kernels to pop rapidly.
Once the popping slows down to a few seconds between pops, remove from the heat and immediately dump the popcorn into a large bowl. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over all the popcorn and toss quickly to coat. Add the ranch seasoning and dill and toss to coat again. Taste and adjust seasoning accordingly. Serve immediately and enjoy!
